Are you a knitter or crocheter?? both
I love to make..... wrist warmers, but truthfully, anything with cables
I really want to make...... sweaters, specifically aran sweaters because I love all the detail. I just need to find the time to make them.
My favorite yarns are..... anything soft and comfortable. I'm not a yarn snob, I could care less if it's acrylic, although I'm not a fan of yarns that feel 'stiff' or 'sticky' when I'm using them.
My wish pattern is...... anything with cables, preferably, but in more general terms, my favourite things to knit/crochet are hats, scarves, and wrist warmers
My favorite hooks or needles are..... I prefer wood, but I'm starting to love those decorative ones I see in magazines, like with skulls and whatever other decorations they have on them now! funky!
I really wish I had..... time? Cillian Murphy? a million dollars? chocolate? lol, any of those would be great :D

My kitchen theme and colors.. brown, green
My bathroom theme and colors... my bathroom's a work in progress, so there aren't actual colours set up yet!
My dislikes.... things that are too bland. I know that's vague, but in everything I try to find something that has a bit of character to it. Boring's not my thing!
My crafts... yarn crafts galore!
what I like.... Alfred Hitchcock & Stanley Kubrick movies, scary books, llamas, and anything 'kitchy'/vintage
My allergies... aspirin
My favorite pets... I don't have a favourite pet, although atm I've a cat. I love all animals.
My favorite scents... vanilla, lemongrass, lavender, anything summer-esque
My favorite novels or magazines... well, I'm currently reading a few knitting themed books, but I love a good scary book or mystery. Love knitting and crochet magazines, especially those with funky patterns.
Other stuff about me... hm, let's see - well, I enjoy a good cup of coffee, and that first-cup-in-the-morning ritual for me is quite important. I love functional items that are multipurpose, and yet decorative. I love classic rock, alternative, and punk music. If it's weird and fun, I probably would like that too, whatever it may be. I love gnomes. My favourite season is autumn, especially because of Halloween, but I also love the changing leaves. I love celtic-ish designs. My favourite shows on tv are the CSI's, Law & Order's, and LOST.

That's pretty much it, I can't think of anything else to write. Whoever has me for a swap, if you want to ask me anything else, please feel free to do so!

Hello from a New Swapper! Laura

Hi Everyone!

I recently joined the swap, and am looking forward to it!

Here's my swap questions and answers (sorry, they're long)! They're also posted on my blog.

My favorite colors... My favorite color is pink (all shades!), but I also like lavender, peach, coral, aqua blue, mint green, and red and burgundy shades. I'm not too fond of purple, bright yellow, or neutrals.
My hobbies... Does eating chocolate count as a hobby? LOL! Seriously though, my hobbies are crochet, loom knitting (rarely though since I learned how to crochet), painting and stenciling wood items, and reading (crochet books/magazines and nonfiction about urban/social issues). I’ve only been crocheting since March, so I can’t do anything beyond beginner/advanced beginner type patterns yet (darn!). I also enjoy gardening.
My kitchen theme and colors... A red & white 1950’s diner theme. I love 50's stuff!
My bathroom theme and colors... A dusty blue, yellow, and white rubber duck theme.
My dislikes... Scratchy yarn (I can’t use that Red Heart Super Saver – too rough)! I also have a really difficult time crocheting with fluffy, furry, novelty yarns. I love them, but just can’t see my stitches in the yarn. I also dislike the "Boye" type crochet hooks - I find that they snag in my stitches. I prefer the "Bates" type hooks.
What I like... I love chocolate, especially dark chocolate! I don’t drink tea or coffee, but I love hot chocolate. I love Italian and Mexican food. My favorite season is spring, and my favorite holiday is Easter. My favorite flower is pansies, but I also love all spring flowers (tulips, crocuses, daffodils, and hyacinths). I love old houses and historic architecture. I'm a true crime stories and history buff. I love jazz music. I always carry a lip balm with me (I have lip balms stashed in my purse, in my desk at work, around my house, etc), because my lips are constantly dry. My husband claims it's all in my head, but that's not true - they really are dry!
My allergies... None, although I have a colon disease, diverticulitis, and have had two major surgeries to repair my colon after it ruptured from the disease, so I’m forever forbidden from eating nuts, popcorn, or seeds…sigh!
My favorite pets... Cats! I have one cat, and my daughter has a hamster (who the cat wants to eat!)
My favorite scents... Rose, lavender, lilac, chamomile, cotton/linen (yes, I know, cotton and linen don't actually have scents, but there's candles, lotion, etc. with those "scents", LOL!), baby powder, vanilla-y birthday cake scent.
Other stuff about me... I work full-time, am a part-time grad student, and am a married mom of two kids.

I'm really looking forward to the swaps!

Thank you, Mary B!

I apologize, this is _really_ late but work and life has had me tied up recently. I was even surprised to find out at 4:30pm on Christmas Eve that _I_ was hosting the Christmas Eve gathering of my extended family at _5pm_ .....Luckily, I didn't have to cook (I had just gotten home from work and had a cup of tea when I found out) but I did have to scramble to make things "baby proof".
Anyway, thank you, Mary, for all the lovely gifts. What you don't see is the box of Kleenex (for the tissue box cover) as it got used up on Christmas Eve. The cinnamon bun candle looks good enough to eat. And I loved the penguin spoon, pretty cool. The chocolate cookies (from the mix) were gone in a flash.
thanks so much!

Robin

Welcome Jessica
I am 30 years old, have one cat. I can crochet in the beginning to intermediate level range, but don't know how to knit yet. I like making jewelry, collage/mixed media art, simple sewing and other types of crafts. I love to read and to travel. My favorite colors are aqua/turquoise and the combination of black and white. I'm currently redecorating my kitchen with a pink and toile theme (pink walls, toile linens and chairs) and will soon do the same to my living room with damask prints. I love things in any foreign language. I collect fun, cute Japanese toys, but I'm not too into Sanrio. I guess like any girl, I love bath products in anything but cucumber or chocolate scents, and I have a lot of soap now so I don't need much more of that. I love letterpress items like cards, calendars, etc. That's pretty much all I can think of right now!

Thanks!
Jessica

OMG Laurie!!

Laurie --- you just went to town for the November swap! I was finally able to get to the post office during their business hours and picked up your HUGE November swap box.

Ladies, it was stuffed to the brim with yarn and other goodies. I have some pictures to upload, too, but will try to describe. I now own EIGHT skeins of autumn-colored wool yarn along with a pattern from a great magazine to make an amazing fall felted table runner. Laurie also included another creative magazine, CrochetToday, for lovely winter goodies. I also have two beautiful handmade potholders that go perfectly with my kitchen, year round, plus fall recipe cards and napkins. Add to all this rubber stamps and an adorable scarecrow magnet and THAT is my amazing November Decoration Kit. Oh, I almost forget the cutest part -- macaronis shaped like little turkeys and a handwritten note describing Laurie's holiday traditions.

Thank you so much, my darlin'!!

Shawnee
Dawn,

your package left the snowy pocono mountains this morning and should be with you shortly.

Christmas wishes to all
