Sheila rocks!

I got this lovely package today in the mail. Sorry for the lousy picture but our camera broke and so we can't see what we're photographing. We just get surprised when we download it to the PC!

Anyway, I received all of these things in an orange handle bag. (I love handle bags) A slate painted with Jack-O-Lanterns that says "Trick or Treat." A bag of Lindor Truffles, dark chocolate. (Dark Chocolate is my favorite!) 3 skeins of Lily Sugar 'N' Cream cotton. It is the loveliest shade of yellow, which is my favorite color. And a Lily pattern book. I want to make everything in this book. It has the neatest ideas. I'm thinking my Christmas gifts may have to wait because I must make some of those organizer bins in the book! Maybe my family will agree to celebrate Christmas late this year?

Thanks so much, Sheila. I loved everything!

News Alert!!!!!

I have a bittersweet announcement to make.

After many long hours of thought, I have come to a very difficult decision concerning Crochetoholic's Swap......I wanted to let everyone know how much I have enjoyed swapping and running this swap, but as the saying goes, "all good things do come to end sooner or later".....with that said......

December will be the last month for swapping here until ???????????....

Crochetoholic is taking a long needed rest from swapping starting January 2009.

It does not mean that the swap will not open up again at a later date.....I just need to take some time off from it. So..... if you want to swap in December go ahead and comment here and I will start a partner's list for the last month of swapping at Crochetoholic's Swap...

When Crochetoholic starts the swap up again you will all be notified by email to see if you are interested in rejoining the swap... [be sure I have your correct emails]

This was a hard decision to make, as I have very much enjoyed knowing each and everyone of you. Even if just in the "blogosphere." Thank you, for all your friendship and support. ...online friends are the best and I hope that you will still visit my blogs and keep in contact with me.....

http://pbdesigns.blogspot.com/ ....my reading and crafts

Thank you for being part of the swap and I hope you enjoyed your time at Crochetoholic's Swap!!!!

Reminders

Hello Swappers...
Wanted to remind everyone that you can click on anyone's name in the
"Crochetoholic's Swappers" list in the right side bar and link to their blog. This comes in handy when trying to contact your partner. You can leave them a comment or chat with them on their blog, too.

Also a reminder that you need to post a "thank you" on the blog along with photos of the packages you receive...It is a good thing to photo the package you are sending too, just in case your partner does not have a camera....

Thank You Lori Lynn

I received a great October package from Lori L. Thank you! I need to transfer the photo from my camera to the computer sometime this weekend. Everything was a Candy Corn theme, from the amigurumi pattern (for candy corn) and yarn to the Gummy Candy Corn and regular Candy Corn. There was also the cutest pair of pumpkin socks, a candy corn memo pad and an awesome autumn basket to hold it all.

Thanksgiving Swap: Some Trivia: Did you know that Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Sarah Josepha Hale, an editor with a magazine, started a Thanksgiving campaign in 1827 and it was result of her efforts that in 1863 Thanksgiving was observed as a day for national thanksgiving and prayer. Abraham Lincoln issued a 'Thanksgiving Proclamation' on third October 1863 and officially set aside the last Thursday of November as the national day for Thanksgiving. Whereas earlier the presidents used to make an annual proclamation to specify the day when Thanksgiving was to be held. President Franklin D. Roosevelt restored Thursday before last of November as Thanksgiving Day in the year 1939. He did so to make the Christmas shopping season longer and thus stimulate the economy of the state. Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird of the United States. But it was Thomas Jefferson who opposed him. It is believed that Franklin then named the male turkey as 'tom' to spite Jefferson. $1 is the average cost per pound in of a frozen whole turkey.
The long fleshy skin that hangs over a turkey's beak is called a snood.
The color of a wild turkey's naked head and neck area can change blue when mating.
Male turkeys are nicknamed "toms" while females are called "hens."
When turkeys reach maturity they can have as many as 3,500 feathers!
Faster than a speeding bullet--Wild turkeys can run up to 55 miles an hour! so ladies don't try to catch one for this year as he might out run you! LOL

You will send your swap partner:

  1. A pattern related to any Thanksgiving decoration or theme or something with a Fall theme
  2. All the notions and yarn to complete your pattern
  3. Fall colored ribbons, beads, or buttons [see your partner's likes]
  4. A Thanksgiving or Fall Surprise gift
  5. A Thanksgiving or "warm" favorite recipe
  6. One Thanksgiving or fall tablesetting, napkins, tablecloth, placemat, centerpiece, or ??
  7. A crochet or knit magazine from the month of November

Ok now comment and sign up for the swap! Happy Swapping ladies.....
