Angel in Need for a May Swap

Would anyone like to volunteer to be an Angel" for Monique for the month of May? Monique has been one of our long time swappers and unfortunately never received her May package from a newer swapper. Life happens sometimes, but I always try and make sure my swappers are never left out ther hanging with out a package....

You would send her as close to the theme as possible:

  1. 1. A pattern for 1 project, EX: shawl or shrug, or cape, or poncho
    2. Enough yarn for the project
    3. All the notions required
    4. A card [for your partner to use, so do not write in it]
    5. A package of seeds and a small pot
    6. A photo album
    7. An "old times" DVD movie, like Gone with the Wind, or An Affair to Remember, or an old Betty Davis movie, there are tons that are priced $1 and some in black and white [try any Kmart or Walmart for cheaper prices]

Please comment her if you can angel for Monique. Her address can be found on our "Swappers" page. Link in the right column. Thank you....

Just a Reminder

When we start back up again in Sept. I want to remind everyone that:

  • your packages should be sent with new items, or "like" new condition.

  • Keep to theme as much as possible

  • if you cannot send the items that are in the requirements, then use an alternate substitute of equal quality

  • always post when you send and receive your packages

  • ALWAYS SAY THANK YOU TO your partners, remember that our swapper stake time, $$, and pride in sending their packages and they want to hear from you

  • send what that month's theme is, and be sure to send ALL the items

  • If something happens and you are going to be late or cannot send your package, let your partner and the hostess know by sending them both emails

  • Have fun!!

It came! It came!

My first-ever swap arrived today! I am so excited!

It all came in the cutest Mickey Mouse box (in the right of the picture). I got: a sparkly sun-visor, a summery tote bag with blue flamingoes on a light blue background with white flowers, a crochet pattern for a USA tote bag and all the yarn I need to make it, a flag magnet and flag ribbon magnet for my van, a sparkly USA pin, some Mickey Mouse stickers (to match my box, perhaps?), a red and white striped photo envelope, a window-hanger/sun catcher of red clear and blue stars strung with red, clear, and blue beads, a bag of red, silver, and blue beads, AND two gummy crabby patties, which my boys insist are for them. They're not are they Debb? LOL

Thank you so much, Crochetaholic-Debb. I feel so blessed. Today, we were watching one of my boys friends and they had another friend over for the day to play. So my house was full of loud boys and Mommy was in need of a treat! So, your timing could not have been more perfect. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

July Sign up

Okay gals....SIGN UP FOR July SWAP HERE!!!!

If you want to be in the swap YOU MUST sign up here under the comments and remember to put your name in the comments so I am sure to link the comment to you....

July: Red, white and blue month, Trivia: This is a theory: There was an act that said that the flag of the thirteen United States be the thirteen stripes, alternated with red and white and the union be thirteen stars be white in a bay of blue field that would represent a new constellation. The Continental Congress left no record to show why it chose the colors. However, in 1782, the Congress of the Confederation chose these same colors for the Great Seal of the United States and listed their meaning as follows: white to mean purity and innocence, red for valor and hardiness, and blue for vigilance, perseverance, and justice. According to legend, George Washington interpreted the elements of the flag this way: the stars were taken from the sky, the red from the British colors, and the white stripes signified the secession from the home country. However, there is no official designation or meaning for the colors of the flag. A vexillologist is an expert on flags and ensigns.

You will send your partner:

  • Any 1 pattern made of Red, white, and blue colors
  • All the yarn needed to complete the pattern
  • All the notions needed, including the hook or needles
  • A red, white , or blue bag to put the project in [can be handmade or bought]
  • A red, white, and blue decoration, stickers, or magnet
  • A novelty, costume jewelry red, white, and blue pin

Sorry, Robin,I should have let you know that it was indeed your parcel that was waiting at the sorting office when we arrived home from our vacation.
In the parcel I found pink yarn which was pounced on by my grandaughter, needles with which to knit the yarn, 'The Friday Night Knitting Club' an insulated cup with an assortment of teas to fill it and 2 packs of M&M's which are missing from the picture (bet you can't guess why!)Also a terrific crocheted bag in red, white and blue. As I don't crochet I really appreciate this. (Actually I must have crocheted once as my younger daughter still wears an Irish crochet shawl I made in 1969!)
